Hi
Sorry to tell you but menopause is not covered by any private insurance to my knowledge. This is because it is not classed as an illness but also because any treatment is likely to be long term (which again is not covered.)
Private insurance will cover you for period problems and gynae issues, but if you were to say it was for menopause, they won't.
So for example, consulting a gynae for irregular periods, or heavy periods, or fertility issues, would be covered. But if after investigations you found it was hormonal, they would not carry on funding it.
At 42 you are having what could be seen as an early menopause should your periods stop in the next 2-3 years. That may be covered as it is a medical condition with long term implications for health.
My own experience is that I was covered by insurance to see a consultant gynae as I had a condition that was possibly linked to hormones. I was covered for some time, for investigations. Appointments I have now, for ongoing treatment for menopause, I pay for myself.
It's not that expensive relatively. You would get a first appt for around £250 ish and then it's less for shorter appts longer term.
