extended lactation/delayed menopause

How does lactation, which delayed many years of periods, effect the onset of menopause? If I count all the years I didn't have periods because of pregnancy and then extended nursing, it might possibly add up to 11 years total. No joke. It was like getting my period for the first time after each child was close to weaning. I am now 51 and still a 26-29 day cycle. Mostly 28 days like clock work. Has anyone read any studies on this? My sister who is one year older than me has been done for a couple of years. She didn't nurse but 3 months. My mother never nursed and was done in early 50's also.

I fed 3 children for a total of 18 months or so between them. 50 now, period regular as clockwork every 27/28 days. I don't see the link tbh.

Because it doesn't make sense.

Breast feeding might stop ovulation for a few weeks/ months but it doesn't stop it for years. You are very unusual to have had no cycles all the time you were BF. Many women have got pregnant when breast feeding.

If it was true, millions of women who had breast fed for any length of time would not be menopausal till their 60s and this isn't the case.
If you are looking for research, Google is your friend :)
