49 - menopause or pregnant

I don't have symptoms of menopause nor pregnancy yet period is very late (43 days). Usually very regular although recently a few months period has been very early.
I have 2 kids (21&18) DH had snip 18 years ago and 7 years later I was pregnant, this baby was lost at 15 weeks. DH then had exploratory surgery and snip again.
Can I really be pregnant again 11yrs on and at 49!
I know simple way to find out is doing a test but seriously scared by the result.
Can periods just stop without menopausal symptoms? 🥴

More likely to be menopause symptoms but just do a test woman.

Op periods often tail off well before menopause symptoms show. I’m sure doctors say no period in 1 year means you are starting the menopause.
Sounds remote that you are pregnant (sorry if that was a hope) 💐

I doubt it was a hope, user149! Poor Sallyanne is probably terrified!

@SallyAnne49

Has he had his sperm tested since the last failure?
Yes you could be pregnant BUT sounds as if you are not sure of what happens in menopause.

1 Some women's periods do stop overnight and never come back. This is rare.

2 Most women go through the first stage- peri menopause - for a few years. This means between roughly late 40s - early 50s- periods become irregular. That means missing periods, sometimes they might be a couple of weeks late or not show up for 6 months.
This can go on for years ( like 3-5.)

It's at this stage- missing periods- that things like hot flushes, mood swings, etc can start and sometimes carry on forever in some women (if they choose not to use HRT.)

Maybe have a read round it all? Website of Dr Louise Newson is a good one.

Phew!! A problem shared... and hey presto the situation has sorted itself out. Menopause it is then and lots of not knowing where I'm up to to look forward to 😳
Thank you for your help and suggestions 😘
