Can anyone talk me through menopause and mirena coil?

I'm 48 and have been having hot flushes, it could be menopause related, hard to tell as I have a mirena coil. I have a few other health issues which are confusing things, heart related, and am also having bouts of palpatations during the hot flushes. The heart thing is being monitored, am under a Cardiologist, but it would help to have a bit more info about menopausal hot flushes and what happens during one, anyone else find it affects their heart rate?

I guess the thing I'm trying to sort out is are the hot flushes causing the palpatations or are the palpatations causing the hot flushes.

I had a mirena coil when peri kicked off, but had it removed (it was out of date anyway). I did get palpitations last year but that bit seems to have eased and I only get them now if I'm really stressed. They didn't coincide with the hot flushes, which are increasing. I just suddenly feel really hot. I think everybody is different - friends described hot flushes as being like someone had set fire to your feet, but mine are more, "Who turned the heating up?"

Hi, I don’t know know if palpitations and hot flushes are related or one causes the other but I also have mirena coil. Had it fitted to control very heavy periods. Gynaecologist said it could also help with other menopause symptoms. My periods are under control now but the hot flushes are ridiculous. Sometimes I have days of nothing and then out of nowhere feel like I’m being boiled alive.
Everyone is probably different in how these things affect them but if I had known what was in store for when I’m older (now) I would have been better mentally prepared.
I feel like I’m losing my mind.

Some women get palpitations with the hot flushes.

Mirena will not help on its own - you need some oestrogen too.

If you have mirena, you can ask for oestrogen patches or gel to help with hot flushes and other symptoms. Mirena gives you the progestogen part to protect the womb, but will need changing more often (4 years instead of 5).
