Which HRT should I request?

I am sure GP will give me options but which is good, current best first one to try?

She suggested HRT as I am 48 and perimenopausal. Asked me to reflect on the risks but I’ve decided it’s a definite yes when I go back tomorrow. I don’t fancy wearing patches and my biggest issues are lack of libedo and brain fog (poor memory).

P.s Rafabella8 Huge thanks for the suggestion of the Liz Earle booklet. I’ve just purchased it and am reading it now.

Success! I’ve done it!

Armed with information from this thread, the Liz Earle HRT booklet and the linked NICE guidelines I now have a prescription for the oestrogen gel and the micronised progesterone!

For those following the thread... I had to email in my BP readings taken at home to my GP and I also delivered a letter that I had written and my copy of the Liz Earle booklet for my GP to read earlier in the week. She then had to discuss with the CCG as it’s not on the prescribing list in our County.

But after a bit more pestering from me by phone she has prescribed both today. She even said she was quite excited about doing so as it could be really good for others. She apologised for being cautious but we finished on very good terms and I said that caution as long as it’s alongside an open mind is right.

I am 100% sure I wouldn’t have this outcome without this thread, the suggestion of the Liz Earle document and the other reading suggestions so BIG thanks from me.

The pharmacy have to order in the items but they should be in at the end of today. Fingers crossed now that it works!

Great you have got a result.

I don't know anything about the Liz Earle book; suspect (being in the writing trade) she's had it ghost written by health writers/ medics, though.

Weird it wasn't on the prescribing list- some women I know in really rural areas have been using it for 10 years on NHS.
