Testogel: Day 19 and counting...

Thought this might be of interest to anyone contemplating testosterone treatment as part of their HRT.... And I'm also very interested to hear about others' experiences. So... I've been to our marvellous local menopause clinic three or four times. Have had a mirena coil fitted and have played about with different types and doses of oestrogen but was still feeling a bit lacklustre and lacking in libido. I was hoping that testosterone would help with this and I also wondered if it would make me run faster. So last time (and after months of hoping for it and reading up on the benefits) I was finally given a three month course to see how I get on. No idea how much of the benefit is the placebo effect, but my energy levels went up pretty much immediately. Instead of lying in bed for hours in the morning surfing ebay and MN (fun though that undoubtedly is!) I am much more inclined to get up and do something and my last couple of runs have been quite good.

Still no libido though. I'm thinking that might take a bit longer.

Wondered what others have experienced? Benefits and side effects... Oh - I'm waking up really early often at 5ish or sometimes awake for hours at night, tummy a bit funny, but despite the lack of sleep I'm still feeling really good during the day... The broken sleep may be down to the fact we have just moved and I'm very busy planning my redecorating strategy.

Pogglebon that's pants. I'm a bit off-form today... I actually think I have some sort of vague cycle still so every so often (thankfully not monthly) I am noticing I feel the need to do bugger all apart from sitting around eating chocolate and faffing. At least, it happened a few weeks ago and I'm feeling the same today... that was followed by a week of feeling rather rampant. Gosh. So I am now looking forward to next week but I won't tell my husband in case he is in for a disappointment.... How long have you been on it for? And what about the oestrogen/progesterone bit of your HRT? I've slept fine from the day I upped my oestrogen last week. Although still a bit hot some nights... Losingthewill said earlier it took her over three months to get her libido back...

CBB - I tell EVERYONE!! Seriously. Think I am a bit of an over-sharer... but I've told a number of friends who have then disclosed their issues and have started proactively trying to sort their stuff.... Chatting with my friends and realising that many of them (some of them are pretty much sailing through this - lucky them) are in the same boat - feeling down/no libido/anxiety/loss of confidence - makes coping with this easier! Had a bit of a laugh with a friend at the weekend who is wanting to get a new job and so needs to work on her CV but is feeling so awful that she is clearly never going to be able to list her skills in a positive way - because when you feel that bad you just KNOW that you are bloody awful at EVERYTHING. (Think she has hopefully decided to go to her GP!)
