Hi I am having trouble with menopause symtons, I stopped taking HRT 7 years ago when my sister was diagnosed with BC and went into full blown menopause, I started to use Wellsprings 20-1 cream about 6 weeks ago and my symptoms do seem to have eased a little, the hot flushes and my moods being the worse, my Doctor has suggested that I try Tibolone but I am 61 and concerned about BC and also the possibility of a stroke, I am so confused and need advice on which way to turn, can anyone help. Thanks

Are you in the UK?

What is Wellsprings? They make a progesterone cream which is totally ineffective because the body cannot convert the progesterone in the cream form by rubbing on the skin.

If you are using a wek estrogen, it's the same as using HRT, no difference.

There used to be concern that Tibolone increased stroke risk but this seems to have been dismissed now. There is though an increased risk of uterine cancer with it.

Just because your sister got BC it doesn't mean it was/ is hereditary.

1:8 women get BC at some point- it's very common.

The British Menopause Society recommends transdermal HRT for women are 60. That would be a patch or estrogen gel.

The type of HRT that is most favoured by specialist drs at the moment is either an estrogen-only patch plus natural, micronised progesterone (Utrogestan) - a capsule.

And you would need to use a low dose of estrogen to start with (BMS advice).
