Perimenoupause or just a cranky bitch?

Or both?.

Have been to the dr and it’s not menopause but I am fast approaching 50 so can’t be that far off

I am hoping others out there can provide sympathy/ advice as I am going up the wall

I used to be a optimist - now I think what’s the bloody point and am pessimistic about everything - is this normal?..

I hate everything & everyone - really feel like cutting out about 90% of my friends but am in a small community so impossible but they all play these power games and I don’t know why but now I have seen this it’s all I can see and i can’t find the energy to play them - any advice?.

What can I do? I can’t run away or move (DH & kids happy). Does this pass? Should I go on anti depressants? How can I get enthusiastic about things again? God I am even boring myself just typing this!,

I felt like I was going through second puberty.
Anxiety, racing heart, rug completely pulled from under me 48 - 53.
Had some CBT in the end.
Best thing I ever did.
My life is now great.
It was hard and painful but I've come out the other side stronger and I no longer worry about the petty stuff or what people think that much :)

I am on anti depressants. Thry do help

Crankybitch · 05/06/2019 20:28

@justasking. It’s not just the DHs getting cranky, it’s teens going though puberty and elderly parents needing help and support. None of it helps when you are going through enough with hormones all over the place

@gandalf456. Glad they are helping. I was on them after I had my 2nd but didn’t like how they made me feel so trying to stay off them if I can - but have them as an option

Which one were you on, cranky? I am on Fluoxetine.

I know what you mean about the double whammy of teens and ageing parents. I think I would cope without them otherwise

ssd · 05/06/2019 22:08

I've lost both my parents. I'd give my right arm to see them again. I think losing both parents puts your life in a whole new kilter. I just feel like it's now or never.

twitterbird · 05/06/2019 22:15

OP your post makes me feel like you are writing about me. I've just started counselling but 3 sessions I'm not sure it's helping. I don't want to go on anti depressants but what is the answer just feel like a snappy snarling resentful cow most of the time Sad

gandalf456 · 05/06/2019 22:16

I think your 40s are a difficult age

colouringinpro · 05/06/2019 23:35

Cranky i think you've nailed it.

Menopause + Teenagers + Elderly (ill) parents = fucking storm.

ssd · 06/06/2019 06:12

My dad died when dc1 was a baby and I had an elderly mum to look after when dcs were at primary school. Mum was 85 Ds2 was 11, no help with either. I guess I have it easier now.

Craftycorvid · 09/06/2019 14:51

Yes, life stages bring their own stresses without meno’ being in the picture. I’m trying to help my elderly mum, not murder/leave my spouse and hold down a job. I also think the age thing plus the hormone shifts really hits us with any unfinished business. I’m just really angry. Some friends try to talk me out of it but sod that, I’ve earned the right to be angry! I like how the anger is making me way less of a pushover and a lot more critical of what needs to change. For the things that can’t be changed, I’m finding therapy a safe space.

Since my periods have stopped I feel better than I have done since effing puberty!! Keep trucking kid

Oh a happy day that will be! Smile

I feel the same cranky! I could punch DH every day. I can't even look at him. I have a 5 yo and elderly father who insists on calling DS "Hooligan". I basically hate everyone. The in-laws are the enemy. They enjoy a drink and then find it gives their sad little lives meaning to launch into me on all aspects of my parenting Angry. I now refuse to go on visits ..I just find that more and more these days I can't cope emotionally. I go into melt down and DH takes the brunt of it whereas the enemy walk free Confused. It must be peri. I've alwsys had severe pmt but this is off the scale
