Been on this a short while now (following treatment for breast cancer) and I haven't had a period since April last year (before treatment).
I cannot sleep! I'm tired but cannot shut my brain off and I'm incredibly hot (not sweating though, just hot) and uncomfortable.
Is this normal for the menopause? I am 45.
Many thanks.

Yeah it is absolutely normal for meno. You need a specialist!

@fedupntired
My sister was prescribed Tamoxifen following her BC at 39.
She really struggled with the effects of the drug and, ultimately, decided to stop taking it as she felt, with all the information available to her, that the risks of not taking it were not out weighed by the side effects.
She is now 51 and in good health with no further disease.

However, without knowledge of your particular BC (there are many, a study at Addenbrookes has identified at least ten differing genetic types) it would be impossible to say what you should do.

Glad to hear you're seeing an oncologist soon, I would write down questions as they come to mind so you can get as best a picture as possible to make decisions regarding your treatment going forward.

I am currently waiting to get an appointment to see a specialist to discuss my perimenopausal symptoms and choices as BC is prevalent in our family, but feel your pain as suffering night sweats and over heating too.

Anti depressants are licensed and used for women with BC to help reduce hot flushes.

There are also many views on the use of HRT in women who have had BC. Some drs allow it. My own consultant treats women who have had BC with HRT in tandem with their oncologist's advice and views.
Some types of HRT are considered 'breast friendly.

You might need to see more than one consultant to get a range of options. Good luck.

Thank you, I saw the oncologist and decided to carry on, kind of a get it over with approach.
I've been prescribed some tablets for the anxiety and they seem to work and the fan has come out for night times!
