Well done for coming away with the HRT!
Your GP is wrong.
There are a lot of issues to think about here.
Continuous regimes (that is both hormones daily) are for women with no periods for 12 months or who are 54+.
So you should be using the sequential regime which means it follows a natural 4- week cycle.
That is micronised progesterone for 12 days a 28/30 day cycle.
This means you could start it on the 1st of each month for 12 days, or the 15th of each month- any day really, as long as you stick to the pattern, approximately.
This will result in false period about 3 days after the last Utrogestan capsule.
The other thing is, 25mg patch is very low for someone like you in peri and under 50. It would have been better to start on something like 37mgs or even 50mgs.
I use oestrogel and the amount is equivalent to a patch of around 50mgs- I used that at age 53 when still having occasional periods.
I suspect you will not get total relief from 25.
Also- !!!- using daily Utrogestan will 'wipe out' (potentially) the benefits of that small amount of estrogen in that size patch.
Finally, your GP should know that the first review of any HRT is after 3 months, not a month. It takes longer than a month to see if it's the right dose.
