Menapause: I thought I was going bonkers

I thank goodness I stumbled upon an article on Mumsnet regarding this as i thought I was going mad since I was delighted when I realised that I had been through the Menapause. (as previous posts my apologies for any insensitivity here)
At first (and only after a couple of months) I was horrified thinking I may be pregnant. So I had a test and to my relief I was not.
I was quite young; in my early 40s, with 2 children.
I do not miss the monthly periods, the moods and general unreasonable intolerance to randomly anything at all ... whatsoever!!
I was able to concentrate entirely on my life with my family without feeling awful about snapping constantly then being so tired and guilt ridden. The only down side is; should I lose my rag randomly now there is no excuse! I think I can live with that a bit maybe/sometimes/whatever!! So, I was relieved to hear that I was not the only one feeling this way.

Are you in the UK?
I'm confused by your post. Are you saying that until you read something on mumsnet, you didn't know the menopause existed?

In the UK, menopause before the age of 45-46 is considered 'early' and most medical professionals advise supplementing your body with estrogen up to early 50s, to prevent bone loss and heart disease risk later on.
Are you aware of this?

I had absolutely no idea about meno symptoms until they came to me! I started at my early 40 and was a shock for me too! Nothing natural or positive about menopause with my point of view!

To be fair to Emerald, there is no way I was interested in hearing about or knew anything about the big M when I was 40. You only hear about it when you go looking for answers to the changes in your body.
