Could sinus problems be related?

I was diagnosed as menopausal in 2017 after going to the dr for hot flushes and night sweats. LH and FSH levels were high so the dr diagnosed me as menopausal despite the fact that I am still ovulating and menstruating regularly. I tried HRT for three months but had an awful reaction where it felt like I was giving birth, so I came off. Since then I haven't had such bad hot flushes and night sweats so I haven't thought about it too much.

However, I have had increasingly dry eyes and a recurrent sinus infection for about 6 months now. I've had a couple of courses of antibiotics and steroid nasal sprays but it comes back immediately and makes me pretty miserable. I do nasal irrigation and steaming and so on, but it is quite dry and congested up there.

I am wondering whether this could be related to hormone levels? I just thought all these are mucus membrances, aren't they. I've used lube for years so I don't really know if I have vaginal dryness as such.

I have a dr appt about my sinuses next week and will definitely raise it with her but just wondered about other opinions.

I don't know but what I can tell you is I woke up sneezing every day for about the past two years, although it mostly stopped (fingers crossed) a couple of months ago for no apparent reason, just like it came. I'm in the peri stage.

I suffer terribly from dry eyes. I’m 48 and perimenopausal. I have been taking an omega 7 supplement which, after about 3 weeks, really seemed to kick in and make a difference. (I am now taking HRT but only for about 6 weeks. I started the Omega 7 (at GPs suggestion) about 8 months ago and it was the only change I made, so I am as sure as I can be that it helped.
I hope I’ve attached a photo of the box. I got them in Holland & Barrett but I think Amazon also sell them.

I take those too for my dry eyes. I also have an eye mask which you warm up and leave on for 10 minutes. I use the time to do some guided meditation which helps with the general peri stress and anxiety Smile

In a word, 'Yes'.
As you rightly point out, it's your mucous membranes.
These rely on estrogen as do all the organs of the body- skin, heart, brain, etc and bones , to function properly.

Not sure what you meant about feeling like 'giving birth' with HRT? Do you mean you had a heavy period each month? There are lots of other types of HRT which could have sorted that.

It's like buying jeans- you don't have to stick with the first pair you try on!

OP here, sorry for nc. Re the 'giving birth' sensation, I had a feeling of bearing down when I came on my period, and my cramps were more like contractions. Given that I had birth related PTSD this was not at all okay.

I saw a craniosacral osteopath who said all my normal drainage channels are blocked for various reasons, and I've had massive improvement over two sessions. So fingers crossed.

I don't feel inclined to try HRT again just now as my symptoms aren't bad.
