Is there any way to predict when you will go through the menopause?

And are there any signs that it may be imminent?
Just curious really as I'm in my 40s and feel like I should be prepared Grin

When did your Mum have hers? That's a good indicator.

I always thought you go by your mother.

As a rough guide type of thing.

I think my mom was at least in periomenop by my age & yet I struggle to see any signs. Moms might be a very rough guide.

Well my mum was giving birth to my sister when I started mine so not sure about this mother/daughter thing! Mine started with periods that came every 21 days and extremely light. I started to get proper symptoms 3 years later although they were not the most common ones so had no idea they were due to it. A blood test confirmed it.

When you will start have menopause symptoms and you will feel that something is wrong with your body. After 45 it is more common but it can happen earlier.

My mum started at 35 and I'm fairly sure I'm in Peri-men at 36. My periods are getting longer between them and I'm regularly hotter/having hot flushes more than I should be.

As other pps have said, often around the same age as your mother did. Otherwise, it could be around the corner...

When you feel strangely tired and peculiar all the time.
When you start biting people's heads off for no reason.
When you cry at anything and everything for no reason.
When you have to get up in the night to pee. More than once.
When your periods start playing tricks on you.
When you suddenly develop an affinity with cardigans and elasticated-waist slacks.

I could continue, but that's a few to be going on with Grin

Medically, a change in periods is seen as the first sign. So, shorter cycles, longer cycles, lighter flow, heavier flow, adult acne,

then maybe flushes and sweats, low mood etc.
