Perimenopause and Sore Skin?

Hi

I’m in desperate need of some help & advice!

I’m 40 years old and for the last year I’ve been experiencing really sensitive & sore skin. It seems to be ok some weeks & then the next the soreness will be back. I’ve been keeping a diary of the symptoms & it seems to be linked to my monthly cycle. Day 6 it comes on & lasts for around 5 days. It happens again the week before my period.

I’ve also noticed anxiety/depression symptoms around these times too.

My question is can perimenopause cause these symptoms? Has anyone experienced similar?

It’s driving me mad! My face has been stinging all day today, it’s like I have intermittent weeks when my skin becomes super sensitive & irritated. Following which it goes back to normal despite me not changing anything! It hurts & causes me to feel really self conscious. Please help!

Yes I can identify with this totally! I’m 43.5 and have been having really weird skin happenings, like I’ve got a really sensitive patch of skin on back of bum cheek / buttock that will be affected by me wearing something that aggravates it ie cheap tights 😁 also aware of clothing and labels/seams really bothering all over body but more in an annoying way rather than agony. Also went through this thing where I was almost getting pricks/ stabs of pain all over which was more like static shock feeling. I missed a couple of periods over Oct/ Nov got bloods taken then was told that I was post- menopausal (although from what I’ve learnt you need to be period free year for that to be confirmed). Mine does come and go (erratic cycle though) and I’m sure that anxiety doesn’t help whatsoever. Have you had any blood tests taken? I’ve been upping my vitamins and have cut out alcohol (dry jan) and this seems to have helped slightly. Sorry for long post!

Absolutely yes! I was depressed and almost suicidal 2 years ago due to my peri with no history of anxiety or depression. Estrogen affects the way our brain functions and our psychology in general.

It’s awful what happens due to our hormones! My skin is so much drier than ever before. I’m waiting for the results of a blood test to check thyroid function; my GP said any test for hormone level is inconclusive so said not to bother. The thought of feeling like this for the next 10 years is unbearable! I’m taking MenoPace vitamins & have cut out gluten as that always has an impact on my PMS symptoms for some reason. I just really want to feel like me again!

If you think it's perimenop then you think HRT will cure it, right?
I never had perimenop so not contributing personal experience.

Julia I was suffering for a few months until I asked for medical help and took hrt.
I did not recognize myself, I was obsessed with illness, aging, death and had very dark thoughts, I knew that it wasn’t normal for me and asked for help.
I insisted that ADs wasn’t the proper treatment for me and asked for hrt. Hrt solved all these.
