Dizziness/nausea - is it the menopause???

Age 51. I have the Mirena (hormonal) cool and have had no periods since it was inserted about 8 or 9 years ago.

I have been very dizzy for the last few weeks, with waves of nausea. I have not had any hot flushes, headaches, night sweats, vaginal dryness etc. My older friend insists this is the menopause. Is she right?

I have been to the doctor, who is running various blood tests and an ECG. I don't think he has considered the above.

I’m 52, haven’t had a period for 2 years and am now experiencing dizziness when I stand up (amongst other things). I think it can be a symptom, but can also be a sign of other conditions ie blood pressure. I’m not sure how you would know if you were menopausal without removing the Mirena though, maybe you should discuss with your GP, and read the thread on ‘the unmentionable’ on this board.

You need to see your dr. The Mirena won't have any hormones left in it after 9 years. www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception/ius-intrauterine-system/

@JinglingHellsbells I'm on my second Mirena. The first one was replaced after 5 years.

I was referred to a cardiologist after such issue and was diagnosed with very low blood pressure and resting heart rate. I'm convinced it is hormone related, I had the same issue during both my pregnancies.

The menopause is linked with elevated blood pressure but I've read that the opposite can happen to. In my case, it is at night that it goes very low, so I feel terrible when I get up and then gradually feel better over the day.
