HRT - most eco friendly?

I have been prescribed an oestrogen gel plus Utrogestan tablets (as well as vagifem pessaries) but I'm worried about the amount of plastic I am getting through.
I find this combination works well for me (I take them continuously) but would combined patches be better in terms of less plastic/packaging? DO they have a similar effect?

I have asked my GP for Ovestin cream to replace the pessaries in disposable applicators but its the every day HRT which worries me.

I can understand your concerns but if it’s working for you and you dispose of the packaging appropriately, I’d try not to worry.

You could always write to the manufacturers asking them to use less plastic and more recyclable/biodegradable packaging.

Ovestin comes with a plastic applicator too. Hard to get it in with just your fingers. But you re-use the applicator, or you could try a cardboard tampon applicator and squeeze some in the end.

Thanks, just saw these replies.
Good idea to write to the manufacturer.
I suppose I was pondering changing from oestrogen gel to patches, wondering if that is better in terms of plastic waste.
