Vaginal atrophy treatment question

Hi. I've been prescribed vagifem by my doc to try and sort out my undercarriage. I have had urinary problems and a bit of soreness inside and have done the 2 week every night and I'm now on twice a week, although I've decided to try every other night to see if I can hurry things along. Doc says its OK to do this.

My doc says it can take several months to see an improvement so I'm prepared to wait it out but I'm having odd aches and I'm not sure what's going on. I feel kind of achey inside now as well as having a bit of a sore bladder. Would this be the cramping I've heard about?
I didn't have this aching before I started the vagifem just the weeing and soreness.
I'm about 5 years post meno and can't remember period pains much.

I've been trying to read as much about this as I can and have looked on menopause matters and on here but I'm still confused and wondered if I'm having some sort of reaction or has anybody else had the same.

The aching is prob just your womb lining being stimulated a bit. It's just responding to the hormones; not much is absorbed but 5 yrs post meno it's going to be pretty dry in there so in the early days of use, some is absorbed until th e tissues plump up and get tougher again.

There is another product- Ovestin- which is a slightly weaker type of estrogen- it's cream. I use that (have for ages) so if you feel Vagifem is irritating you, maybe ask to swap. They are both the same kind of thing and you can't come to any harm changing.

I think I experienced the same but I've used it for 11 years so a long time ago!!!!

Thank you. Wow 11 years. You must be an expert. Its all new to me so I've got no idea but I will carry on and see how I get on and ask about the cream if it doesn't improve.

I’m on my first two weeks of Vagifem and have noticed the odd cramping and breast tenderness. 7years post menopause and unable to complete smear test due to the burning pain! I love the fact that I can now sleep through the night without getting up for numerous wees. Back for a smear on Friday and hope it will be easier! QueenoftheNights, I think it’s your previous info posts that I’ve been reading up on, thank you for the info, it’s been a tremendous help. I thought I was a rarity, yet speaking to my doctor it’s obviously very common indeed. Wish I had known about Vaginal Atrophy before!

Hey can I join in?
I’m just about to give up on this tbh. I’m on the 4th week and not sure if it agrees with me and seem to be suffering side effects which I’m not sure are usual and I’ve not had any noticeable improvement. Reading other posts it might be that I would be better off with the cream although my doc said to give it a while to see if things settle. It’s hard though.
If I stop, how long before I will know if it’s the vagifem I’m reacting to? I can’t be sure but it seems like the day after I use it I am sore and achey. Used Sunday night and was bad Monday, bit better Tuesday. Used again Wednesday morning, ok all day but had a bad night and still not good today. Like about 12 hours after use I get symptoms.
Or should I give it a bit more time? I’m fed up of going back and forwards to the docs, who are pretty hopeless.
