Pink spotting a few days after end of period

I'm 46 and fairly sure I'm getting perimenopausal. Low libido, hot flushes in the night, all the usual.

My period finished on Monday, but today I've had some pink spotting. I have had it before, and have put it down to my age but I've made the mistake of Googling tonight and now I'm freaking out.

Two years ago I had a one off really long heavy period which I went to the Drs about. I had a smear - all normal, a transvaginal scan, again normal, so I'm hoping everything is ok. My cycle is usually 28/29 days and I bleed for around 6/7 days, usually really heavily for 4 of them.

Someone reassure me this is a normal part of perimenopause. Guessing I should probably go back to the Drs but I have bad health anxiety and hate going.

If there's one thing I've learnt about the perimenopause it's that it affects everyone differently. The official line used to be that gradually your body produces less oestrogen whereas in reality for a lot of women it just goes haywire because of the oestrogen - progesterone changes.

If it's any consolation my periods sound like yours, regular but very heavy for a few days then gradually petering out over about a week - two weeks. I don't get hot flushes but I think the heavy bleeding is making me anaemic (also suffer from restless legs if I stop taking iron for a while and constantly crave ice) and tired which is making me really not arsed about sex. I'm thinking of going to my GP and asking for blood tests for iron-deficiency and if levels are low maybe asking for Cerazette (or Mirena at a push). You have my sympathies, I dread going to the GP for this because a) a lot of GPs seem so shit when it comes to female hormones and b) I don't want to be a burden on the NHS when it seems to be struggling to deal with life-saving stuff.
