Good evening. I am early 30's and for the past few weeks I have been so hot .... to the point where I am so so hot for example in our office everyone else is freezing cold and putting cardigans and jumpers in and I am there sweating buckets ! I am worrying whether or not this could be the start of early menopause - I have never had sweating like this! Ever. Even through pregnancy through child birth nothing like this !!!!!

Possible but that isn't all that likely . Menopausal hot flushes normally happen at night, and it's more like, well, a flush. Not just feeling hot all the time.

I'd go and get checked for an overactive thyroid if I were you - this does cause overheating / sweating and it sounds more like your scenario.

Errr. no they don't! Those are night sweats.
I had hot flushes all day long, once an hour.

If your periods are erratic or you have any other symptoms, see your GP.

You need to see your dr anyway as sweating like that can be down to all kinds of things.

My periods are the best they have been for a long time.
I just have times where I am so hot.
Sweat just drips off my face.
Over active thyroid - does that have anything to do with weight loss or weight gain? Or am I completely getting it all wrong?

Overactive thyroid, weight loss.
Underactive thyroid, weight gain.

showmethemonkey · 16/10/2018 23:09

Thyroid issues also can mean hair loss, (even eyebrows), extreme fatigue, rapid heartbeat, dry skin...

purplepigs · 16/10/2018 23:31

Extreme fatigue sounds familiar too!
I need to book an appointment if they even answer the phone !

Don't have weight loss though, I have lost inches and my body shape has changed due to diet and exercise but weight has stayed the same.

Have a blood test. Flowers

showmethemonkey · 16/10/2018 23:49

If you have a private walk in place near you, the tests aren’t that expensive.

purplepigs · 17/10/2018 11:43

@showmethemonkey I will def check that out - thank you

You need check your thyroid and your FSH. Maybe there are other causes for feeling so hot. Primary ovarian failure is a possible diagnosis but not so common. Anxiety and stress can cause hot flashes and changes at body temperature as well.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 17/10/2018 22:07

Do see your GP. However, at the risk of being an idiot, have you considered that it has been freakishly warm for October (certainly in the South East?). My house is 23 degrees, my work is roasting, because the heating is programmed for a normal October, and I've been much hotter than usual.

purplepigs · 17/10/2018 23:20

Yes I have considered that it is so much warmer than it should be at this time of year however the heating has been turned off due to the warm weather - colleagues in my office are freezer and the other day I walked to the post office and I was so hot I thought I was going to faint - I am def not an unfit person I walk around 4 miles a day with my dogs plus the walking I do during my working hours - stress and anxiety I hadn't thought about that - I don't think I am
Anymore stressed than normal tbh
