Peri menopause - Kliovance

I have been perscribed Kliovance today and am confused as to when I start taking them. Doctor said first day of period and Pharmacy said 1st day after period but then went on to say it does not really matter when you start them. Is this the case as if I go by doctor I have to wait a whole month before I can start😬😫. This is my first time of taking any HRT, I am 44 and peri menopausal they think as have symptoms but not showing in blood test yet. Any advice from ladies who are taking Kliovance would be greatly appreciated!!!

It's the same for any sequential HRT regardless of the brand.

If you have periods the idea is to time the HRT so it follows your own cycle- so Day 1 when you bleed, take day 1 of the pack.

If your periods are all over the place and you don't want to wait till the next one, you can start any time. You may end up with 2 periods in a month or close together at first- one from the withdrawal from the HRT and your natural period.

Ah ok I see now, it’s like taking the pill then. Doctor didn’t explain it very well, I am on day 6 of my period and am keen to start as symptoms are not good especially the brain fog and anxiety to name a few. I really don’t know what to do for the best. Thank you for your advice:)

I too have started taking Kliovance after enduring 2 years of horrendous peri/menopausal symptoms. From my own experience I would NOT take it on day 1 of your period - I did and ended up bleeding for 3 weeks. This happened twice and have since learnt Kliovance is replacing the estrogen that is deficient in your system and encouraging bleeding as your hormones adjust to the influx of new (albeit synthetic) hormones. I would take it mid cycle to avoid prolonged periods but discuss it with your dr. Best wishes and hope your symptoms reduce quickly - I have never experienced anything like it myself. From brain fog to insomnia to heart palpitations to screaming from the rooftop - makes me almost wish I was 18 again!
