How do I get HRT

All the doctors at my GP surgery are male and I don't fancy talking to them about this. Is there anywhere else I can get HRT prescribed?

My male doctor was far more sympathetic than the female one, she said I would have to put up with the flushes. I don't think you will get this anywhere else, you need a blood test too really to see what your hormone levels are. Why not speak to the practice nurse and see if she has any suggestions, maybe accompany you to the appointment.

Don't make a judgement on gender.
I have a male gynae (it's private) but he is absolutely lovely.

Holey Blood tests are not given to women over 45 with meno symptoms (NICE advice.) Rule is 'treat the symptoms'.

OP- you just need to list your symptoms and say you'd like to try HRT having researched it and are aware of the risks and benefits.

It's your body! GP cannot refuse on non-medical grounds if there is a treatment that can help.

I had a blood test but was only 42.

I was refused the first time so bought the ladycare magnet. It helped for a short time but then I insisted on HRT from my male gp. He had originally refused.

My male GP is a patronising arse when it comes to women's issues. I book in with the nurse prescriber instead. She's my age and understands.
