Perimenopause - burning stabbing throat?

Anyone else had this? The last week or so I've been getting a really strange pain in my throat - first time I thought I had swallowed a wasp - really sharp stabbing pain that lasts a few seconds then goes away. It has been happening afternoon and early evening and alongside it I have a fizzing sensation on my tongue, almost as if anaesthetised.
Anyway, I was watching a YouTube video about perimenopause, when the doctor listed symptoms andnone of them was burning throat - wtf! I thought I had a viral infection but not sure I can put up with this indefinitely - anyone else had this and if so, what can I do? The doctor was saying it was due to oestrogen dominance?
For background, I'm 46 and have a period every 2-3 months - my main issues are waves of heat through me at night, always between 3 and 4am wierdly, my acne has dramatically worsened in the last few weeks and I am very anxious and feel overwhelmed easily - plus now this throat issue.

Never heard of it.

If you are suffering and you are only 46, why are't you thinking about HRT? Seriously, unless you have medical reasons not to, it will sort all of the things you mention. You are 5 yrs before the average age for menopause (last period) and with irregular periods now, you ought to think about HRT to protect your bones and heart because with only 3-4 periods a year you will have low estrogen levels. See your GP.

Thanks Queen - do GPs offer bio identical hormones or would I have to go privately for that? What would be the best kind of HRT to ask for? or is that too simplistic and do they have to interpret blood results in order to prescribe - if so, shall I go to GP on day 21 of my cycle as I was readirg that this day is the optimum for blood result interpretation?
Tbh, I'm very confused - would you say that perimenopause is worse than menopause and when the average age of 51 is quoted, does that mean that periods will have stopped for a year prior to 51 or does it mean that perimenopausal symptoms start at 51 on average? If perimenopause goes on for up to 10 years, this is all very distressing.
Once a woman has had no periods for a year, do the symptoms go away?

This should answer your Qs about bio identical ( actually they are body identical as the article says!)

menopausedoctor.co.uk/what-is-the-menopause/body-identical-hormones/

Blood tests are done between days 2-5 of a normal length cycle.

51 is the average age when periods stop for good. so by the age of 52 you would suddenly twig 'Ah my last period was a year ago!'

Prior to this you could have symptoms for a year, or 10 years but that's quite rare- most women it's a lot of minor changes to their cycles over a few years with / without flushes etc.

Once a woman has had no periods for a year, do the symptoms go away?
God, no! My mum still has / had flushes 30 yrs on in her 80s and other issues like bladder weakness, prolapse, osteoporosis etc can all happen due to loss of estrogen. Some women are VERY lucky and get none of this.

Post meno ( no more periods) symptoms can last forever (flushes. sweats, insomnia), or for a few years. Everyone is different.
