Sweats are Back After Post Meno Bleed

I recently had a post meno bleed (suddenly had a period after 15 months of having none). It was investigated and luckily all was fine and it was put down to me having a last surge as it were! That was back in March. Since then my hot flushes/surges have returned with a vengeance and are far worse than anything I experienced before my post meno bleed. I used to actually be a bit smug and tell everyone that I had gone through the menopause relatively easily!

I know it's been unbearably hot recently but these sweats started before the warm weather. If I get even the slightest bit anxious my temperature shoots through the roof. I can be sitting in a meeting and I suddenly feel the burning feeling which creeps around my whole body. My hair gets damp which is not a good look when you have very fine, frizzy prone hair! Then I become anxious which just makes it worse!

So my question is should I just hang in there and hope that this will soon pass or go and speak to my doctor? I'm now 57 now so must be almost through it surely?

HRT?

There is this myth that symptoms go away in a few years. Something like 20-25% women have sweats and flushes for decades. My mum had flushes into her 80s. My consultant says some women never, ever get rid of them.

As you have found, after 15 months your estrogen levels continue to drop and will do for another few years.

You can do an experiment on yourself and see how long it all lasts or you can try HRT to put an end to it all. You only need see your dr if you want medication such as HRT.
