Pessaries and side effects

LMP was 3 years ago. I had a few hot flushes but they stopped in 2015 so that was great.
Started pessaries 2 weeks ago as had a couple of random leaks and pain on intercourse but now in the last few days I'm getting night sweats again.
I know the dose is so low it shouldn't have a systemic effect but without doubt I'm suddenly back to what it was like 3 years ago.
Has anyone else experienced this? Not sure whether to persevere and if things will right themselves or to just stop.

By pessaries do you mean Vagifem?

A tiny amount may be absorbed systemically in the 'loading' period of the first 2 weeks when you use it daily. Thing is, any that is absorbed would stop sweats not start them- estrogen is the 'cure' for sweats and flushes.

I'd say it's total coincidence- sometimes the flushes and sweats start long after the last period.

Vaginal estrogen isn't sold as a 'cure' for stress incontinence- you need to do your pelvic floor exercises for that- estrogen will help plump up the tissues and help a bit but do your exercises!

Yes vagifem. Tbh I only had 2 slight leaks months apart it wasn't a long term chronic problem, I was just worried it was the start of something so thought it would nip it in the bud.

I've read flushes are caused by depleted oestrogen, that's why it's been really puzzling. Perhaps it is coincidence, just seems odd I've gone from nothing in 3 years to being drenched every night after my 2 week loading dose. Wasn't sure if the introduction of even a small dose could upend the body a bit and make things chaotic. I'll persevere! Thanks very much.

one thing to think over is that estrogen levels continue to fall for some time post meno. It sounds as if you didn't ever have any real symptoms- lucky you!- if your periods stopped in 2015 and nothing horrid since.

You may find that your estrogen has now really bottomed out which can happen 2 years or so after last period which is why you are getting symptoms now. The Vagifem won't give you sweats or flushes. Nothing to do with the hot weather we've had is it?
