Hello. Am 51. After reading on here about benefits of HRT, I went to Dr for HRT last week but advised against it due to family history heart disease. Not sure if I’ve gone through the menopause as no periods for years due to being on mirena. Only symptoms being waking in night, slight flushes, nothing overly dramatic.
Anyway dr recommended a blood test, ‘as you may as well have coil removed if no longer required’. (around 6 yrs).
Was surprised when my results came through. ‘Positive result, menopause over, book appt to remove coil’.
But now am having doubts.
As a teenager I suffered horrendous periods and don’t want them back!
What’s the rush to have mirena removed? Is it giving me beneficial hormones? My sister says has last period age 52 but flushing starts AFTER this? ( I thought last period meant it was all over and that I had escaped lightly?)
Could the blood result be wrong?! I don’t want to risk a pregnancy.
Does anyone (Polly?) have any advise please!
Thanks so much.
