Menopause after hysterectomy.

As said, had a hysterectomy years ago with ovaries left in, it was an emergency surgery, I was unconscious so I had no say.

Obviously never had a period since but occasionally had sore boobs. Hot flushes are now getting way way out of control, as in at least 10 a day that make me luminous red and sweat pouring off me. I'm miserable from it.

I do intend to have a chat to my Gp about hrt but I'm on a lot of other medication, immunosuppressants , so I'm not sure whether they'll agree to trial them.

Anyway, my question is. If you've had a hysterectomy with ovaries left in, how the hell do you track what's going on without periods to judge it by? I did see a Gp a couple of years ago who did very basic testing but she failed to grasp when I asked about working out whether I'm peri, in or almost finished with the blasted thing.

Anyone that can help, please do Confused

There is no way of knowing except by symptoms which you have. Even women who have got their wombs can't tell how long peri lasts. They might do a blood test but it's a bit pointless really. You've got peri symptoms so it's more about treating them. They say that even with ovaries left, a hysterectomy can accelerate the menopause by 2-3 years.
Most HRT now is body-identical. That's identical hormones to your own so it's unlikely your other drugs would interact because all the HRT would do is put you back where you were before your hormones fell off a cliff.

Sympathies from me. I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago and am sure my menopause started to kick in 5 years ago. GP hasn't been that supportive and two blood tests were normal. I actually think I may be coming out the other side at 44.
