arghh...

periods gradually getting further apart since 2014 no period since feb 2016

regular hot flushes.. mainly at night..

just noticed a few days ago that I hadnt had that feeling of suddenly walking into a hot oven for the last month.. yippeeee thinks I, this summer might not be too bad now..

then I noticed I had got the one little pimple that I ALWAYS got just before a period began, always in the same place on the side of my nose, and never had it any other time.. I also had tender boobs, and the tell tale headache that always came just before a period..

no, thinks I, it cant be.. but yes it damn well is.. I just came on. ffs!!!! Im 50 in February, I know its probably quite normal but for gods sakes..

and another thing I have just realised too, for the last two weeks, I have slept soundly for 7 hours a night, just like I always used to before the peri started.. (the last couple of years I dont think I have had one night of unbroken sleep without needing a pee or just waking up for no other reason

I'm sorry to tell you this, but you need to get this checked by your GP.
Any bleeding after two period free years is classed as post-menopausal bleeding, which could be a symptom of uterine problems, including malignancy. Best get that ruled out.

ParisUSM · 15/05/2018 16:23

The fact that you've had all the same signs as you normally do means it is most probably a last hurrah blip, how annoying. Think you do have to see the gp though.

Crispbutty · 15/05/2018 16:31

I had a smear recently which was all ok but I will check with the GP just to be on the safe side as well.

I went for 13 months without a period and then had one. All clear after lots of tests. Definitely getting checked is the way to go

The rule is any bleeding more than a year after no natural period has to be taken seriously. The RCOG guidelines say (sorry) assume cancer until ruled out. You will be sent for a scan of your womb. It's not picked up with smears. Your GP should refer you for tests within 2 weeks. Don't worry though. you last period was at 48 so you could still have some ovarian acitivity. worse would be a woman aged 56 who'd had no periods for 2 years then bleeding.
