Hair loss?

I am nearly 47 and suspect I am in peri menopause. The last few weeks a lot of hair comes out when I brush or wash my hair. Can the menopause trigger hair loss and if so does it stop eventually?

Yes, this happened to me around the peri I lost a fair bit of hair and noticed the hair on my legs got sparser. It stopped after about 6 months.

Yes, hair loss is a result of the lack of estrogen and hormonal changes during meno.
Maybe there are other conditions such as anaemia, low ferritin, thyroid dysfunction, raised testosterone levels that can affect your hair too.
Hrt, a good diet, a reduction of stress, exercise, hair products, good sleep and vit E can help! :)

I’d go to the gp, it could be peri but other stuff causes it too.

Worth getting ferritin checked as it needs to be above 50 to stop hair loss and encourage regrowth. I'm taking Viviscal at the moment as I've an area of my hair which is pretty thin now. Two months in and I can see an improvement - very expensive though.
