Dear fellow sufferers,
I have been on HRT for two years now (estrogen in the morning, progesterone and testosterone in the evening!). I have been struggling a lot and it's still not great.

I really struggled to get the right help and wherever I turned people people were very reluctant to talk or even said it's not a problem for them. This made me very curious and I am actually now doing some research about the menopausal transition with the backing of the University of Ulster.

I am looking for a few fellow sufferers to have a chat with me about their experience. It's totally anonymous. The title of the research is:

What's normal about the 'change of life'? An interpretative phenomenological analysis of the experience of menopause.

If you are over 45 years of age and your peri-menopause / menopause is natural (so not premature or due to other health issues) and you live in London (so that we can meet face-to-face)... I would love to hear from you! It would involve an hour interview with me.

Please feel free to ask questions or get in touch!

I would really love to hear more about other people's experiences!

For me my early meno was a total nightmare! I’m on hrt of course. I’m 42 years old and have been diagnosed 8 months ago! Nothing natural for me! We are not designed to live without estrogen so many years, that’s my personal view. People don’t talk about meno cause it’s a taboo subject, it means aging and the loss of fertility. They suffer alone, I think.

I'm totally with you. The 'what's normal' is making the point that it often is not normal.... but we are told it is. And yes, it's a total taboo! 50% of the population are going through the menopause and for many of us it is not a normal thing to happen and yet people do not talk about it. Just the fact that women are reluctant to participate in research like mine is saying so much! Where are all our voices???
