Always had regular periods 28/29 days apart but my last one was 5 days late and so far I'm 8 days late, I'm 43. Could this be the start of the menopause, don't seem to have any other symptoms yet which I'll take to be a good thing.

Hi! It's possible, my cyclo was very regular and my periods were a few days late some months ago. I diagnosed with early menopause at 42 and I'm on hrt. I think that's better to ask your gyn and to check your FSH.

BossBaby · 02/02/2018 21:02

Thanks Emerald13, what's FSH please?

Follicle-stimulating hormone = FSH to do with producing eggs. Basically a test that's done to see if you are in the menopause.

I haven't had a period in just over a year now and it all started with periods becoming irregular, after a few months they just stopped. No hrt or any symptoms that I read about.

I'm 44.

Thanks INeedToEat, I think I'll wait a few more months to see if the pattern of being late continues and if so will mention it to my GP, only been late my last two periods so maybe a bit early to book appt yet.

Lucky you INEEDTOEAT! I had too severe symptoms with regular periods! I an on hrt due to my symptoms and for avoiding the long term consequences of the lack of estrogen to my body.
BossBaby maybe it's just an hormonal imbalance due to other reasons and not a sign of early menopause. FSH is a indication that the ovaries start to fail, if FSH is above 30 that's a sign of meno.
