Headaches with Progesterone

I'm in on 7th week of femoston 2/10mg - so the first week of the white tablets if that makes sense?
Yesterday I had a headache which pretty much turned into a nighttime migraine type thing (felt like vomiting, someone was chiselling my head) took 2 x 500mg paracetamol & fell back asleep. Woke this am with the headache residue so took another 500mg & dragged myself went for a run. Feel much better for that but still got the headache.
It happened about the same time last month & initially I thought it was because I didn't sleep with the window open. Now I'm seeing a pattern. Hopefully it's the first few days of progesterone only - would this make sense? Might it happen every month? Any advice please? Blush

I've started getting shocking headaches since being on HRT. Don't know if it's connected though. I have the mirena so constant release. I never used to get headaches and now I really do - particularly migrainous type with nausea.

I think you have to accept that in the first 3-6 months of using HRT, you can get all kinds of blips. It may settle down but if not you may need to decide if for you and your health history and symptoms, you need to a) change types or b) stop.

I get a headache (migraine) almost every cycle (long cycle 6-8 weeks) once I stop Utrogestan, but I put up with it because for the other weeks I feel fine. It's a compromise. Nothing is perfect when it comes to using HRT or NOT using HRT!

Wait and see how you go.

Thanks both.

I'm definitely feel better taking it & hopefully it will be a bit of a blip. I've read you say that femoston progesterone is usually the best tolerated, but wondered if there are any other options for me? I've got 3.5 mth a left - may well ask for the gel next time, do you know what the equivalent would be?
I've also got a referral to the Chelsea & Westminster Menopause Clincal, could be a 15 week wait though but at least in progress!

There is no direct equivalent between pills and gel and patches.
The starting dose for gel is 2 pumps = 1.5mgs estrogen.
You can start with 1 pump, and increase to 2, 3 or 4.

Unlike femoston you'd also need a separate progestogen. This would be something like Norethisterone, Provera or Utrogestan.

Thanks - I had a bit of spotting yesterday but no headache this am, thank goodness.
