Any tips for keeping patches on?

I’ve just been prescribed femseven sequi patches. I followed the instructions and after 2 hours it was curling and coming off and had air bubbles. I’ve only been given 2 months worth so that’s now down to one months worth.

Can I put a plaster over the top or what?

Also it says don’t wear tight clothes so that would mean tights, leggings, exercise trousers? That’s not very realistic?

I’m so desperate and I was told I couldn’t have tablets so this is my only hope (my symptoms are extreme depression, anger, crying a lot, waking at 4, aching all over, thinning hair: dry mouth - not hot flushes)

Any top tips?

Thanks

i wrote you along message and it disappeared. grrr. anyway this is the description of Oestrogel that i use. 2 pumps per day. i felt better within 5 days.

Each measure from the dispenser is 1.25 g of Oestrogel. The usual starting dose is two measures (2.5 g which contains 1.5 mg estradiol) of Oestrogel once daily. In the majority of women this dose will provide effective relief of menopausal symptoms. If after one month's treatment effective relief is not obtained, the dosage may be increased accordingly to a maximum of four measures (5 g which contains 3.0 mg eastradiol) of Oestrogel daily.

I'm not an expert but my guess is you're not getting enough Oestrogen x

I second dreams, it sounds like you’re not getting enough oestrogen @hotheadwheresthecoldbath

My hrt is called
Oestradose / oestrogel and comes in a 80ml bottle. I use two pumps daily.
The progesterone is called utrogestan and comes in a box of 30soft gel capsules in blisterpacks. I use one 100mg soft cap vaginally for 15/30 days.

I’ve also got ovestin cream for topical application within the vagina and on the labia for vaginal atrophy and also
I’ve got a script for testogel a testosterone gel sachet type of presentation, to be used occasionally in a tiny pea sized amount on my abdomen.

I see a gynae privately for scans and also I pay for my own prescription as I didn’t want to have an unsuitable hrt prescribed just because of costs.
Hope this helps!

Using utrogestan and as I am having no side effects with this at all I am keen to stick with it.
I also think a higher dose of oestrogen or maybe I'm better off with slow release like the oatches.I have also had a period starting yesterday midcycle so that's my own hormones kicking in again I guess.I have an appointment again in 10 days to see how it's going and review my joints and see what can help there(mostly my hands so causing serious difficulties).
On a positive notey hair has stopped falling out!

Hot - how ru today?
I am 2 weeks into the oestrogen gel and my high has subsided but i still feel better. I think my own type of cycle is happening and as am a bit tearful.
I've had few nights out recently and the tiredness DEFINITELY compounds my feelings of sadness so i would echo Pollyperky's advice on taking a full lifetstyle approach to this. I am crap at that but am trying to go to yoga, eat well, walk everyday, get to bed on time etc....

Hot here,name change,
Went to GPs been upped to 1g oestrogel.
Ironically my appointment was delayed due to snow so used a left over patch, bunged it on with no real care and it has stayed on for 3days!Start the gel tomorrow, hoping for at least some decent sleep.
I am eating healthily but my new years resolution will be to go to bed earlier,I did that tonight but the heat is keeping me awake.

Hi Only
IF it helps to know - i am over a month into trying gel (2 pumps) and utrogestan and i feel so much better. It isnt miracle working but i am happier, not depressed etc.
the weight i gained on patches has fallen off. I do get more flushing now than ever before but nothing too intrusive.

Just bumping this as I’ve just been prescribed gel and tablets. My other patches stayed on mostly but were so wrinkly that I wasn’t sure how good they were and had no improvement and very achey breasts as a side effect. I synced them with my period but then had another period after 14 days - really heavy one too. Also getting lots of nausea - but that might be iron tablets!

But looking back at this thread I seem to be on a v low dose. One Pump a day of oestrodose. The dose is 1.25g - it’s 0.06% gel (0.75mg of
Oestriodol) . The tablets are one a day of utrogestan (progesterone 100mg). But inside the packaging it says to take 2 a day for half a cycle!

If this doesn’t help it’s hard to know if it’s the dosage or the actual hrt!

Any of you lovely ladies out there having problems after the menopause? 61 and had last period 5 years ago. Had the usual problems which I managed to cope (mood swings/insomnia) were the worst for me. Thought after 5 years things would become better but I have recently started with dreadful dryness/itchy/sore problems down below. I've tried various creams and potions and think I may be only adding to the problem. I've been to GP and have now started on HRT as other things we've tried have had no effect. What are other ladies doing with these sorts of problems?
