Peri menopause and HRT

I started getting some peri-menopausal symptoms about a year ago (I'm 48) for ages was in denial about what it was but then night sweats started and I had to admit it.
Went to Dr who prescribed Elleste Duet 1mg pills. Within a couple of weeks I was feeling much better, getting good sleeps, hair and nails better, better mood, less foggy etc.
However month or so ago my symptoms returned - with a vengeance. Back to Dr who upped my dose to 2mg. Now been taking the new prescription for about a week and still feeling awful. Literally waking up every hour burning up. Also grumpy/sad and emotional, everything feeling like MASSIVE problem (for example my son spraying Lynx right beside me this morning while I was eating my muesli, grrrrr Angry).
Does anyone else has similar experience of HRT initially working then not? More importantly how long is it going to take to work - or does it sometimes never work?? Feel I can't go on much longer with no sleep Sad

I don't know but I'm interested in other replies.
I'm 43 and having awful night sweats and insomnia. I'm seeing my gp next week.
I hope to get HRT but I feel like I'm wading through treacle trying to understand everything I'm reading.

@ihatethecold I bet you don't hate the cold now - I lie in bed dreaming of snow and Arctic wastes! It's the weirdest feeling, like you're a heater on overdrive. Torture! I really hoped HRT would be a magical solution and it was for a bit but now I'm back to square one and sooooo tired. Doesn't help that I've just separated from my husband so having to keep all the balls juggling - cruel trick of nature that women's 'change of life' seems to coincide with men's 'mid-life crises' Sad

LOL island.
I just went for a massage, usually I want to be on a heated bed all wrapped up......
Not this time, I got so hot. It was an amazing massage though.
I've got a mild migraine so it's definitely helped.
