Frigging perimenopause with its unpredictability. Soaked through super size tampon (which never happens) AT WORK. Blood soaked trousers! Great! No period pain to suggest today was going to be heavy, loads of meetings so hard to change tampon more often. Luckily I have a jacket I don't much care about which is going to be tied round my waist on my commute home. I will look ridiculous but there is a lot of standing up to change trains. This hasn't happened to me since I was 13. Gah.

Thank you for reading, I feel better now.

Oh you poor thing. That's awful :(

Can you wear a pad as well as a tampon if this might happen? Just to be safe? You can also get some good knickers called Diary Doll that look like ordinary pants but have a waterproof lining.

I am only 32 and have had systems and mine are so heave for the 1st 24-48 hrs I have to change the Super Tampons and use night time pads to ensure I'm suitably protected :( didn't realise this was another symptom

  • Change every 3-4hrs

I'm sorry this happened to you today.

Sorry I should proof read before hitting post

It's a nightmare, I resort to tena ladies plus tampon, but sometimes like you it takes me by surprise.

onthewagonwheel · 05/09/2017 18:20

Thanks, yes I'll pop into a chemist to get some pads. Had a liner on but that was as useful as a chocolate teapot!

Poor you. I have stopped using tampons as it seems if I put one in, say first thing in the morning and then I finish dressing, I need to change it before I can even go downstairs for a cuppa. Then I'm forever worrying if it's on the verge of exploding and occasionally jumping the gun and removing only to find it's still dry (ouch).

I now use washable cotton pads and would recommend. So much better for my skin, no more chafing or nappy rash from plasticky pads.

Wow cheer that is a royal pain. I had just invested in a menstrual cup as I'm finding tampons uncomfortable, and hadn't yet tried it, now I'm more nervous to try something new like that!

Today is much more manageable. I reckon 90% of my period basically happened yesterday. I'd be so happy for them just to stop.
