I am aware of estrogel, are all estradiol formulations bioidentical? Thanks

All of them except Prempak and Premarin.
(The right term which consultants use now is 'body identical'.)

See here

CCEs (conjugated EQUINE estrogens are made from mares' urine. All the others are natural estrogen.)

Bioidentical is what's used in the US for HRT made for an individual and not licensed as a product.

Thanks PollyPerky, I think I may have asked a similar question a while ago on here.
I have tried a few different types and I am desperate now. Going back to the GP this week and I'm wondering if they can prescribe something suitable or if I should go to see someone like Prof Studd.
I had a hysterectomy and ovaries removed over 3 years ago and I'm still really struggling. Have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I know I can feel so much better when my hormones are in balance.
I keep trying different ones, feeling awful and stopping then flushes return/palpitations and I start again.

Any advice??

If you have no uterus and ovaries all you need is estrogen.
I wouldn't have thought it was worth seeing Studd for this because from what I have gleaned on forums, he will just tell you to use Oestrogel in a large dose- 3 pumps perhaps daily. You can get this from your GP.

Thanks, maybe I should try the estrogel again and make sure I give it a long enough time. I thought of seeing him in case testosterone is a good idea. Do you know of any specialists who look at other hormones i.e. thyroid too??

Thanks.

what have you tried so far and for how long?
Is your GP supportive? They should run all routine tests like thyroid. The only other thing you might need is testosterone- you might need a specialist for this because the type available is for men and not licensed for women but some GPs are happy to prescribe and you just use less. This is covered in the NICE guidelines under libido and energy so have a read.

My consultant's advice on gel was to start with a small amount- in my case ( ovaries still) that was 1 pump a day for 2 weeks or so . I found this helped but not 100% so upped to 2 pumps (split morning and bedtime) and that was fine. At one stage for a few months I went up to 3 pumps to fully control my sleep issues.

The starting dose is 2 pumps ( instructions on leaflet.) You ought to try at least that for maybe 2-3 weeks then increase if you need to.

If you want names of specialists I'll do that by PM.

Hi, I have tried livial, estrogel, elleste solo and a patch which I can't remember the name of sorry. Thyroid came back in normal range but I've read about issues with thyroid tests.
Could you PM the details for specialists please, just in case,

Thanks
