GP dismissed Perimenopause symptoms

Saw one GP at practice earlier about various symptoms & decided to try supplements first which worked ok until recently. Had a phone appointment & she agreed more needed to be done so booked me into see another GP.

Saw other GP today and she tried to blame some symptoms on other things and wouldn't listen when I told her that wasn't cause. Like I was tired because DH works away during week - he's been doing that on & off for 20 years! Other symptoms she just ignored, won't prescribe HRT as apparently combined pill I'm on is better. Has ordered blood tests but had some earlier this year and all fine.

Said if nothing shows up then she can't help further and come back in a year as I'm not in perimenopause. I'm going mad with it all. So angry.

I have exactly the same situation. I’ve been referred to the hospital to a rheumatologist because of joint pain. I’ve had 2 sets of blood tests which are negative. I’ve had blood pressure checks... All of these things show what I DON’T have. Again, no one will accept that, at 44, these are perimenopausal symptoms.

The same here! My first gyn was absolutely rude saying that everything is in my mind. I am in peri too. Find someone who knows and cares. It is unbelievable how much we suffer because of estrogen decline.

pollyperky can you help?

Or can someone else help.

i am 47 and intend to go to my gp.

I have had 2 maybe 3 light periods each year for the last 2 years.

I have not been on any birth control

Can I ask for HRT gel if I state these symptoms

Unable to sleep as I experience night sweats every night

Hot flushes - often and quite random and sweating in face

Weight gain around middle - despite trying to exercise and eat well - will keep trying though

Very stiff on joints when I wake up

Massive thinning of hair

mood swings - not too bad but I guess I should just say mood swings

Is that enough for me to get a gel?

Also i want to try a gel not a pill.

I really don't want to be fobbed off at all.

Sorry all another question - if you get a prescription does that mean that pay a prescription fee? Sorry it has been so long since I have used the nhs for anything so am keen to know.

Thank you
