Advice re HRT for 42 year old

Chilliandbanana · 09/08/2017 08:42

I have been on HRT for a year after struggling without for 2 years. Diagnosed with menopause at 39. I am struggling with constant bleeding but want to try and continue with the HRT. A mirena coil has been mentioned to help with the bleeding. I was just wondering if anyone had had any experience of this or had any advice for me. Thank you.

Which HRT are you using? At 41, you'd be better off with a sequi type - monthly withdrawal bleed - so you get a regular cycle of bleeds. You ought not to get constant bleeding. Are you using a conti type? This is often given to women whose periods have stopped for 12 months but there is no reason why you cannot use sequi (for ever, really.)

You might get on well with a Mirena and a separate oestrogen such as Oestrogel (so you can easily adjust the dose yourself) - it's brilliant stuff.

Thank you for the reply. I had to go off to work. I am on Elleste duet conti at the minute and have bled for 6 months so far!

Swap the conti for sequi. Maybe try Femoston which people say is good.

Or a Mirena plus Oestrogel.

I am showing my ignorance here but what is sequi?

I am on Evorel Sequi patches.
I have the odd day with a bit of spotting, otherwise it has been really good.

I just feel dreadful all the time and physically so different from even a year ago. I feel very lethargic and am having trouble looking after my 3 kids and working!

Yes sequi at your age. Go see the doctor and get it changed.

I did try patches at the start but they kept falling off and not lasting the full 3 days so I went on to tablets. It is such a minefield an Di really have no clue

I didn't say that anyone had to eat tonnes of red clover or flaxseeds Confused.

I listed the main vitamins and minerals that the makers of Macca say the supplement provides. Most of them - B vits, iron and calcium, can be easily obtained through food.

If there is a magic ingredient in Macca apart from the above, what is it?
