Menopace vitamin?? I've read really good reviews and was thinking of trying this. I'm 43 and for past year have experienced periods up and down, aching wrists, mood swing, headaches etc. Past few weeks my energy levels have dropped, periods extremely heavy and muscles aching so much especially my knees and wrist. I read about menopace and the reviews on both H&B website and Boots are really good. Just wondered if anyone on here tried them or any other vitamins / tips you can give x

I know others will come along who will disagree with me, but I don't 'believe' in vitamins unless your diet is deficient. I make an exception for Vit D as most of us are short of that.

Menopace (there are different types in the range) include isoflavone (from soya) which some studies show may relieve hot flushes.

This is from their website, product info.

Menopace Original Formula
One-a-day vitamin, mineral and nutrient tablets

Nutritional Information Average per tablet % EC NRV*
Vitamin A (2500 IU) 750 µg RE 94
Vitamin D (as D3 200 IU) 5 µg 100
Vitamin E (Natural Source) 30 mg α-TE 250
Vitamin C 45 mg 56
Thiamin (Vitamin B1) 10 mg 909
Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) 5 mg 357
Niacin (Vitamin B3) 20 mg NE 125
Vitamin B6 10 mg 714
Folic Acid 400 µg 200
Vitamin B12 9 µg 360
Biotin 30 µg 60
Pantothenic Acid 30 mg 500
Magnesium 100 mg 27
Iron 6 mg 43
Zinc 15 mg 150
Copper 1000 µg 100
Manganese 0.5 mg 25
Selenium 100 µg 182
Chromium 50 µg 125
Iodine 225 µg 150
PABA 25 mg -
Soya Isoflavone Extract 20 mg -
*NRV = Nutrient Reference Value, µg = microgram

Most of them are trace elements which you'd be getting in food anyway. You can get the 20mg of soya from a soya yoghurt. If you have a good diet or can make yourself eat a good diet, no one should need to pop a vit pill.

It won't replace estrogen which is the cause of meno symptoms. IMO it's a placebo effect- nice to think it works, but it won't do any more than eating a healthy diet with loads of fruit, veg, oily fish, good fats etc.

Did nothing for me. I tried everything.

Lizard202 · 04/08/2017 08:29

What age were you all when you first noticed signs (and what were the signs)? I'm 40 and tired all the time and get waves of hot flushes when those around me are cold. Just wondering if it's too early for this to be starting?

sandgrown · 04/08/2017 08:30

I used Estroven. Not cheap but usually on 3 for 2 at Boots. I think it helped.

PollyPerky · 04/08/2017 08:35

Lizard Are you periods all over the place as well? If so you ought to see your GP and discuss options. Menopause before 45 (that means no more periods by 45) is classed as early menopause and it's a medical condition which needs treatment with HRT to prevent bone loss and heart disease in the future.

paradoxicalInterruption · 04/08/2017 08:41

I take menopace and Agnus castus. I think the Agnus castus was good for The Rage. TBH though only thing that has really gavelled all the other symptoms was HRT. Been on it since 45 but fannying around with other stuff like the pill since 40.

paradoxicalInterruption · 04/08/2017 08:42

Gavelled?? Helped.

Okite · 04/08/2017 08:46

I agree with polly, anyone getting menopause symptoms pre-45 should see their GP and discuss HRT. And be prepared to push!
I'm 43 now and had had symptoms for 18 months or so, I knew it would be perimenopause but hormone tests were inconclusive. Despite having family history of premature menopause, it took an endo's recommendation and periods stopping completely to finally get hrt prescribed.

Lizard202 · 04/08/2017 08:58

Thanks guys, just wanted to check I wasn't overreacting. I'll see the GP. DH will be happy, he's been on at me for ages 🙄

Rosie2105 · 04/08/2017 21:33

Thanks for all your replies. Lizard my periods started going different when I was 41 I'm 43 now, just once in December and I had a very strange week of anxiety and palpitations which I thought strange. I didn't even think menopause as I have a little boy who at the time was just 1 (3 now) then periods went back normal and in January this year to now my periods went 18 days then 30 days, I ache everywhere and just feel absolutely rubbish and tired. I had my hormone levels checked and went back to my doctors but she just told me I was probably at the beginning of menopause and would I like a leaflet to explain it all Hmm she was kind of rushing me as though she couldn't be bothered or it wasn't important. I do feel very isolated about it all, apart from here I don't have anyone to talk about it to as none of my friends are going through this. I read about menopace and couldn't believe the reviews so was going to try it or maybe other vitamins like evening primrose oil. Polly thanks for your advice although sometimes I don't eat the right foods so I do feel as though I am lacking vitamins. I'm not overweight and I gave up smoking 12 months ago and rarely drink anymore. I'm thinking of going back to gp but don't want to feel as though I'm wasting their time Blush. It's good to come on here and talk I feel as though I'm not going mad and I'm not alone. Also I have just been for an ultrasound today as I have been having very weird stabbing pains in what feels like my kidneys but they couldn't see anything, I just feel as though since I turned 41 my body has changed so much Sad

Do keep trying at the GP Rosie, as you are under 45 (same as me), it's important to get hrt to protect against osteoporosis. The hormone blood tests are difficult to get conclusive results from, but in the absence of anything else causing dodgy periods (did the ultrasound also check for fibroids etc?), it's likely to be menopause! It took me over a year to convince GP to prescribe HRT

Okite · 06/08/2017 12:43

I sympathise with the age thing too, since turning 40, It's felt like everything's gone downhill!

Rosie2105 · 06/08/2017 19:56

I'm going to make another visit to my GP this week as I have other symptoms like my moods are so up and down I'm so lucky to have a supportive husband. I just feel so low with it all Sad. Thanks for your support x
