Mirena for perimenopause?

I'd appreciate reading about your experiences with Mirena. My GP has confirmed I'm perimenopausal (age 43) and has suggested Mirena could help with the heavy periods.

I have no need of contraceptive as DH had vasectomy years ago.

My concerns are related to low mood and low libido, both of which have been on-off long-term problems.

Apart from some occasional night sweats I don't really have too many peri symptoms, but my PMS is horrendous and lasts up to 10 days. Then periods are much heavier than they used to be.

Very grateful for all anecdotes, good and bad :)
Thanks.

I have a Mirena for the progesterone part of my HRT, it wasn't for problematic bleeding, I have had no problems with it so far...one year in.
It is frequently suggested for heavy periods in the peri stage.
If you had the mirena it is easy to start HRT if that is what you wanted in the future as you can just add in some Estrogel or an estrogen patch.
Low moods and libido is an symptom of peri unfortunately, although for some reason I have escaped those.Have had other horrid symptoms though!
