Menopause, fatigue and depression

I'm 46 in a couple of months time. Haven't had a period for over three years, been having hot flushes. Went to Drs about 6 months ago with symptoms, they did blood test and came back normal, no further action required. Since the the hot flushes have continued but recently I have been feeling so fatigued and depressed on top of the hot flushes. No night sweats though. The fatigue is becoming unbearable, I come home work, make evening meal then fall asleep by 7pm Shock. I had PND and been taking anti depressants ever since as mood as had been low. My Mum had a hysterectomy in her late 30s/early 40s.

I have made an appointment with Dr for next week, but as my blood tests were "normal" last time, I don't want to be fobbed off again. I know the guidelines about blood tests and will fight a battle if need be.

I just want to stop feeling so tired and low zzzz Sad everything is an effort and at times I can't stop crying

Forgot to say that i had polycystic ovaries in my 20/30s, not sure if that is connected.

Oh dear....feel for you Flowers

The thing is, you have had a premature menopause - no periods since 42.

Prem meno is menopause before 45 -47, because the average age in UK is 52.

This is a no brainer really. You need HRT. It's to prevent osteoporosis and heart disease later on.

The blood tests are red herrings. Not sure how the FSH was normal if you are not having periods and haven't had one for years Confused.

If your Gp doesn't recognise the risks of an early menopause, regardless of all your horrible symptoms now, you need to change GPs or ask your current one for a referral to a gynae, or self refer to a gynae privately so you get proper treatment.

Early and premature menopause is a medical condition in its own right which needs treatment.

Thanks PollyPerky I have been fobbed off by Drs so many times over the last few years Angry about this. Have been given anti depressants for the mood swings and other symptoms ignored Angry

I can't keep going on like this, the flushes are mostly bearly but the fatigue and depression is horrible.
