I'm 48

Clearly gone/going through the menopause.... but do I need to do anything?

You all seem to be having tests and medication but I'm ok with managing the symptoms

I've not had a period for 2-3 years now
Hot flushes regularly
Weight gain but I'm losing it now
I still run and I'm not achey/tired etc
No mood swings

Do I just leave it at that and carry on? I work full time, mum of 5,sporty.

Leave it for now and carry on.
The majority of women do not have tests. You only find people on a forum who are having issues and have questions!

Symptoms when hormones fall come into 2 categories: peri meno when hormones are all over the place and after meno (where you are now) when periods stop.

Long term health issues after meno can include osteoporosis, heart disease and pelvic /vaginal atrophy/prolapse.

You might want to keep an eye on your bone density because if your last period was at 45 you were on the young side for meno. (average age in Uk is 51-52) so you have been without estrogen for 6-7 years earlier than most women which could affect your bones.

Thankyou polly

I'll just carry on then. I do have to have my coil removed at age 50 so was going to ask then if I was ok or would need meds etc, so in the meantime I'll not worry

If the flushes get really bad then do consider HRT because the (tiny) risks don't kick in anyway till age of usual meno, and not till 5 years if use - so you could have relief for 7 years without even worrying about it.
