Stopping HRT and nausea

Hello

I'm 43 and was prescribed Everol Conti patches by my GP about three months ago. My periods had stopped about 8 months previously after being a bit erratic for a year or two. I hadn't experienced typical MP symptoms like night sweats, but was just feeling rubbish all the time - tired, grumpy, anxious, achy joints, indigestion, brain fog etc etc. Blood tests confirmed MP/peri-MP and GP recommended trying the patches.
Three months in and I'm not convinced they are helping. I still feel pretty much the same (plus pretty much constant bleeding). I have booked an appointment for review but can't be seen until next Monday and have now run out of patches. I was trying to eek them out, so kept one on for 5 or 6 days (instead of 3 or 4).
Since starting to eek them out I've had a few spells of really horrendous nausea - I spent 5 hours sitting on the bathroom floor on Friday evening trying not to throw up. I have a huge fear of vomit, so formidable willpower when it comes to holding it in. This was the worse episode, but I've had a few like it - really horrible nausea.
So, after the long ramble, could reducing the HRT be causing the nausea? If so, I'm terrified of getting through the next week before I get to see the doctor. I'm wearing a patch I've had on since Friday...
Thank you :)

Conti HRT is for women who are aged 54+ or who have not had a natural period for 12 months. You aren't one of those.

At 43 you ought to be on sequi HRT which is more natural at your age because it would give you a cycle similar to what you'd have naturally - you are having a premature menopause.

Why did your dr prescribe conti? Did you say you wanted a no-bleed type?

The problem with conti HRT - I've posted about this today for a similar poster- is that you are using 2 hormones all the time every day rather than estrogen daily then progestogens for some days each month.

I don't know why you are feeling sick when the oestrogen is running out. The obvious answer is it's your peri symptoms kicking in because after 5-6 days there will be nothing left in the patch so you may as well throw it away!

I'd ask your GP for sequi HRT and that at least will stop the daily bleeding- you will have a predictable monthly bleed or if you used Tridestra, a bleed once every 3rd month.

Thank you for replying Polly.
Everol Conti is just what the Dr gave me - I didn't even realise that 'conti' meant continuous (or that there was a non-continuous option) until recently...
I'll mention this when I'm at the Drs on Monday and see what they say.
Been less queasy the past couple of days, so fingers crossed it was unrelated!
Thanks Again

Hi.I’m 59 and was prescribed Evoril Conti HRT patches which I took for about 4 months. I stopped taking them about a week ago as the only thing they helped with was hot flashes. Since stopping, I’ve been feeling really nauseous and wondered if this was a side effect of stopping cold turkey?
Thanks for any help you can give.
