Bleeding after 10 months

My periods stopped in February, had hot flushes during the summer which then went. 3 weeks ago I had a bit of spotting on one day only. Then 2 days ago similar - not so much a flow, more a seepage, which has continued. Not like my previous menstrual periods at all.
Is this likely to be another period after 10 months? The NHS website says only to get bleeding checked out if its more than 12 months since last period.
In 2015 my periods stopped for about 3 months, with hot flushes as well, with periods returning erratically but otherwise as before, until the last one in Feb. This one does not feel like a normal period.

Hi Annie, i had a lot of erratic bleeding/ gaps/ pains/ flushes for 4 years before it all finally stopped. I'm pretty sure that Peri Meno can drag on for up to 10 years for some women. You're not considered post meno until you've had no period for 12 months, that's why the website uses that chunk of time as a threashold.

If you're unsure about what's going on now, do go and see your GP and get it checked out, i did a couple of times in the beginning, just to be on the safe side. It's a tough time as its all so unpredictable, so at least put your mind at ease a bit.. HTH x

Thank you JellyKat. Wasn't a good idea of mine to google symptoms after a glass of wine on a Friday night; your post is reassuring.
I'll see how things are after Xmas. Had hoped that after 10 months I'd reached the end of periods which would have meant the menopause was relatively mild for me (apart from the occasional visits to loo to remove clothes when the hot flushes got too much Grin ) but I realise I'm not through yet.

Try not to worry! the 12 months thing is not black and white but there has to be a cut off point so 12 months has been chosen as the time limit.

But it's not an exact science.

The real risks are if someone has been post meno for years then has a bleed or spotting. That's not you!!!

Endometrial cancer in a younger woman who is not yet through meno is very very rare.

Keep an eye on it. You may find you now have a series of more frequent periods then another long gap!
