I don't think this is good, is it?

Menopause over and done with - 3 years ago, I thought. This week, blood spotting, today looks like a proper period. Will have to go to the docs, won't I? Or is this something that can sometimes happen. Not happy, and to be honest, a bit scared.

Hope all is well. I had pretty much the same and was told by the doc with the dildo that everything seemed ok. Should I have gone back to my GP? I didn't.

Whoever does the scan has a responsibility to put the results in writing and forward to whoever requested the scan. If a consultant requested it the letter would go to them, they would then cc it to the patient and the patient's GP.

If the GP requested the scan then the results go to them and they would call you if there was a need for a follow up.

Hope your mouth is not too sore Greydog.

Polly - so far diagnosis is Ductal Carcinoma In Situ. So pre cancerous as far as they are aware. Obv will know more after surgery. Not thinking beyond that.

Hi Greydog can I join in? Two years without a period and have had the most massive flooding since Friday. Couldn't work on Monday and Tuesday as it was soaking through my clothes. Saw GP and have a referral to hospital and was told I'd get an appointment within two weeks.

I'm really frightened. It doesn't help that the GP was kind and not brusque as they usually are. Ugh.

Greydog · 18/02/2016 15:26

Cider thanks for that, and no not too sore at all.Having looked at the offending tooth, I'm amazed! Keeping fingers crossed for you for everything

Weasel - come and join us! I did get the referral within the two weeks, now it's waiting for an answer. Which is not funny. But it is comforting in a strange way to know there's more than one of us out there x

Just opened the post and along with stuff about my surgery etc I have received a letter inviting me to book a smear test! Good timing!

Will book that tomorrow.

Weasel - fingers crossed for you. That does sound scary. Flowers

Good luck CiderwithBuda. I'm hoping it will be a false alarm for all of us x

Greydog · 19/02/2016 21:58

Yes, good luck, Cider and weasel lets hope so!

Did you get your results yet Greydog?

Had my smear yesterday and apparently I look 'sore' inside. Nurse recommended oestrogen.

weaselwords · 03/03/2016 04:55

Of all the things it could have been "sore" is probably the least harmful CiderwithBuda. I hope you get it sorted. Good luck x.

Greydog, how are you?

I have good news; I had my scan and my womb lining is normal. Some quite big fibroids that were obscuring the view, but nothing really sinister. The radiographer couldn't find my ovaries but said this was a good thing as they hide behind your bowel when healthy.

So no need to see a consultant and back to my GP. I've had an early menopause and this makes me more prone to having random periods, apparently.

I presume, the flooding was due to the fibroids so am going to talk things through with my GP as I ruined a chair at work as the flooding was so heavy. It was humiliating and I don't want it again! I talked to one of my colleagues (I work for the NHS) and she said not to have a hysterectomy (not that I was planning one, as am shit scared of operations) as her husband does a procedure that "zaps" fibroids into oblivion. I'm going to look into that.

I didn't realise how frightened I'd been, until I had a little cry of relief in the car on the way home. Time to start looking after myself and stop pretending that this menopause lark is easy. It really isn't for me.
