Peri menopause at 37?

I'm noticing all sorts of changes and its increasing as time goes by.

I'm getting worse PMT and increasingly anxious/panic over long periods of time.
Really upset stomach the week before a few days after my period.
Periods once regular to the day are no longer predictable.
I'm usually awake for hours each night especially 2 weeks before my period.
I go between freezing cold and roasting hot. With flushed cheeks which is new to me.
My boobs hurt, ache and are generally heavy.
No sex drive for past 6 months and dryness increasing to uncomfortable.
I wee when I cough/sneeze.
Extremely tired coinciding with pmt, insomnia, upset stomach.

My mum thinks I'm mad! She says I'm far to young but she was on HRT by 44 after having no period symptoms before. She went to doctors in desperation thinking she was losing the plot!

Am I Imagining it? Is there anything that can be done?

I'm 44 and I'm getting some of these symptoms, so I've been thinking about this too. You can have a blood test to see if you're peri-menopausal. I don't know how good it is -- IE, I don't know if they can see much until your oestrogen levels drop significantly. But it might be worth going along to your GP and asking for a test.

Sorry -- I also meant to say that some of the symptoms (sore boobs, PMT) might be helped if you take supplements. The best ones are meant to be Agnus Castus, Starflower Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and vitamin B6.

I'd go to the doctor, just for a check up. Might be thyroid issues either.

jellyjiggles - yes you really should go to the doc with your symptoms - firstly to rule out other conditions as QuietIsland2 says but also if you are heading for a premature menopause it is vital for you to start HRT early in peri-menopause to protect your heart, bones etc and general health. Make sure you tell the doc about your mother too as there is a hereditary component to menopausal age I understand.

At your age blood tests are a very important part of the diagnosis even though they do vary, so several will need to be taken.

Thank you. It seems a trip to the doctors wouldn't be a waste of time then.
