I'm going through the menopause at 23...

I had a baby, breastfed for 6 months, 3 months after that I had a period and I haven't had another for 18 months.

I went to the DR who told me that I am going through my menopause, it was quite a shock but not the end of the world as I have two gorgeous children already!

I'm asking on here if anyone knows what it means for me long term?

Will I have to take hormone replacements?

Will it affect me later on in life going through this early?

I've got another appointment with my DR in a couple of weeks time but the more I think about it the more I worry what this means for me long term having experienced this early?

Really? I think your dr might be jumping the gun a bit. Have you had blood tests, seen a specialist?

Please go back to your dr and insist on a referral to a gynaecologist. At 23 it's possible but really very unlikely this is menopause!
You need a whole range of tests under a specialist- blood tests, scans of your ovaries, to give a diagnosis at your age.

Even IF you were having menopause at 23 your GP is very wrong to give that diagnosis and not offer treatment which would be HRT until you were 50. Otherwise you are at high risk of heart disease and osteoporosis.

If your GPis this useless then can you change?

pink is bang on - hrt is the recommended course till you hit 50. ask for a referral to early menopause team and you'll also need a bunch of bloods done.
