Everyone is different. some people do feel like this.
Most good drs don't bother with blood tests other than to rule out other conditions- they prescribe on symptoms alone. Blood tests are notoriously unreliable for peri meno symptoms.

I came here to post the exact same thing. I had blood tests last year which were "normal", despite having six month gaps between periods and then three in a row (ie within weeks of each other), hot flashes and sweat dripping down my back (ugh).

I feel for you!!

Handywoman and Verso - you must have had a reason for going to the doc about bloods? Are you looking for treatment? If so are you conisdering hRT? Your doctor should not refuse this to you on the basis of blood tests when as pinkfrocks says - your symptoms are a clear indication of menopause.

Yes I wanted to discuss the merits or otherwise if HRT. But it was ruled out as I lost my mum to breast cancer.

I was offered antidepressants - no thanks!!

Maybe ask to be referred to a specialist who can advise you?

Having a first degree relative who has had breast cancer is not always a no-no. Some consultants put the bar at 2 2st degree relatives and incidence at a young age.

A lot depends on the age your mum had breast cancer ( younger age is worse) and other factors too. Only 5% of breast cancer is hereditary.
It depends on how bad your symptoms are. Sadly the lifetime risk of breast cancer for all women whether they use HRT or not is 1:8, so increasing your risk slightly because of your family history may worry you- or it may not.

Would your GP be happy to refer you to someone for more advice?

sorry- 2 x 1st degree relatives (typo)
