My cycle has been all over the place for about 2 years (17-23 days with an ocasional 26). Last month was a 17 day cycle with 8 days of bleeding. This month I am 31 days and no signs or symptoms yet.
It is driving me insane.
I wish someone could tell me how much longer this is going to go on for.( impossible question I know)
Gp did blood tests last month and said I am peri, but said it is impossible to tell how close to the end I am due to fluctuations.
I am on oestrodiol for vaginal atrophy already.
I seem to be free of other symptoms at the moment.
Sorry for the rant, just fed up

I stopped keeping track of my periods before I was 40. Does it really matter? Can't you just cope whenever they occur?

Obviously to me it does matter, or I wouldn't be getting so worked up about it!
In my twenties and thirties they were easy to manage but am now prone to flooding with lots of pain. I think this is made worse by my large prolapses.
I am fully aware that every woman has to go through this, but it is making me miserable.

have you had a chat with your GP about the flooding?
It sounds as if you'd be better off with something like the Mirena coil which is great for heavy bleeding - has this been mentioned? Many women who have one find their periods stop altogether.

Mentioned it to the gp along with all my symptoms, no mention of any treatment at the moment. Their answer is always well you have been offered a hysterectomy and prolapse repair. maybe you should just go ahead.
I currently have a pessary to manage the prolapse as feel that 42 is too young to have a repair due to failure rates.
I had a mirena coil about 8 years ago and had major hormonal and health problems when it was removed, so am reluctant to go down that route again ( was sterilised hence the removal)

Also due to level of prolapse I feel the strings woud be problematic during sex.

Your GP can prescribe tranexamic acid for flooding.

I had a repair much younger than you- at 34. Touching all wood it's lasted over 20 years. Failure rates are not that bad, really. Depends a lot on who does it. You need someone who does lots. I'd at least go and talk to a gynae about it and let them advise you on how successful it might be for you once they have had a look.
