Saw a GP from the 'there there, dear' school.

I saw a GP today, it got me nowhere very much.
He was condescending and said my symptoms could be explained by anything, including hot flushes. After some pushing on my part he conceded I could have blood tests, I'm worried these may not show anything as I'm not having periods so I don't know when the 3rd and 14th day of my cycle is.

I posted before, I'm 41 so this does need to be investigated.
I will have the blood tests, but what then?

If you are only 41 and not having periods then he ought to refer you to a gynae for the tests and investigations.
Such an early menopause- premature ovarian failure- is a serious health risk later in life.
Have a look at the Daisy Network (online) which is really helpful.
If your dr is useless still, can you see another one?

It wasn't my Dr, I haven't seen my own Dr in over 5 years, there's a 6+ week wait for that, if I could get an appointment at all.

I'm going to go back again to another one and try again.

And thank you, I will look at the Daisy Network.

I saw GP this week (after much shilly-shallying on my part) because of anxiety which I suspect is menopause related. He too wants to start with blood tests, to rule out other causes such as diabeters or thyroid. He referred me to the Menopause Matters site which has a forum - useful. Also implied he was pro HRT (but swimming against local tide - he's South African) and I think that will be an option if the tests draw a blank.

Treat these blood tests as a first step - it's useful to have a health check - then go back to your GP and see what can be done.
