Is this 'normal' or something to worry about?

Hi, first time on this board so a little nervous.

I am 47 and 1/2 I have regular but extremely heavy periods every 27 days, chronic pain with it and flooding constantly! This has been going on for 7 years and I know I have fibroids.

What I wanted to ask was about what has been going on for me in the last 4 months and it is really getting to me. I am lightheaded/dizzy at least once/twice a day on a good day, I have a permanent headache at the temple and my anxiety appears to have gone through the roof.
The anxiety has been controlable for 15/16 years but now is back with vengance, I am anemic and feel shit all the time, no energy at all and I'm just so tired.

I've been to my GP about a million times in these last months and they have done blood test etc, blood pressure etc and nothing...

I was there last Thurs and it seems that my new GP ( I've moved so had to move surgery) just isn't intrested at all, all he said after me having to ask was to up the iron!! I asked if it was menopause and he said 'could be' BUT nothing else, no help at all.

It's got to the stage where I don't want to wake up as the dizziness and headache is getting me so fed up.

Is this menopause and do any of you have this/had this and how do you cope?

Your dr sounds useless- is there another in the same practice or can you change practices?

Dizziness and so on are signs of anaemia.

If your dr won't give you the right treatment insist on a 2nd opinion from a consultant. If necessary and you can afford it, pay to see one as a one-off consultation.

The treatment for heavy bleeding is the Mirena coil or an emblation- google heavy periods and see the NHS or Patient.co.uk for advice on treatments.

Go back to the dr - or another- one and be assertive, ask for some correct treatment for heavy periods.
